On 21–22 April 2026 students of the Refrigeration Technical School from the Jakub Wejher District School Complex No. 4 in Wejherowo participated in a specialist training organized by the PROZON Climate Protection Foundation at the 4R Center in Grabce Józefpolskie.

During the classes, the students learned about practical solutions developed as part of the RE-ELECTRO 4 LIFE project, in particular related to the recovery, diagnostics and reuse of components from refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.

The training program included work on operating CO₂ installations, including an industrial system, as well as presentations showing the differences between traditional refrigeration systems and modern carbon dioxide-based solutions. The students also had the opportunity to learn about the process of refrigerant recovery, analysis and processing – from the laboratory to the separation plant, built as part of the Refrigerants Life Cycle project.

Thanks to the support of European Funds, the participation of students in the training and the entire event were fully financed from EU funds. It was a valuable opportunity to gain practical knowledge and learn about modern technologies, which play an increasingly important role in the HVACR industry.

The growing amount of e-waste is one of the biggest challenges of the modern economy. A particularly demanding category is used refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, which contains both valuable components and substances that require appropriate processing. The RE-ELECTRO 4 LIFE project addresses this problem by implementing a modern model of recovery, diagnostics and reuse of technical components.

The aim of the project is not only to reduce the amount of waste, but above all to extend the life cycle of components as much as possible and reduce the need for new raw materials.

How does RE-ELECTRO 4 LIFE work?

The process developed by the project includes several key steps:

Acceptance and selection of equipment

Used equipment is sent to the plant, where it is pre-classified in terms of type, technical condition and recovery potential of the components. Already at this stage, elements that can be reused are identified.

Disassembly and recovery of components

The devices are dismantled in a controlled manner, in accordance with the applicable environmental and technical standards. Key components – such as compressors, heat exchangers or electronic components – are extracted and prepared for further analysis.

Diagnostics and testing

Each recovered element undergoes detailed diagnostics. It includes performance, tightness and safety tests. This makes it possible to select parts that meet the quality requirements necessary for reuse.

Return to circulation

Proven components return to the market as full-fledged technical components. This process significantly reduces the need to produce new parts, which translates into a reduction in emissions and the consumption of natural resources.

Technological facilities and infrastructure development

An integral part of the project is the construction of a modern technology center, which will enable the implementation of all stages of the process in an automated and scalable way. The investment includes m.in:

• advanced lines for dismantling refrigeration and air conditioning equipment,
• diagnostic stations for component testing,
• Material flow management and part identification systems
• solutions that increase the energy efficiency of the entire process.

The development of the infrastructure allows for the implementation of high quality standards and full control over the life cycle of the recovered components.

Importance for industry and the environment

RE-ELECTRO 4 LIFE is in line with the assumptions of the circular economy (CE), in which the reuse of resources plays a key role. The project is important for both the environment and the industrial sector:

• reduction of the amount of e-waste going to landfills,
• reduction of CO₂ emissions associated with the production of new components,
• reduction of the consumption of primary raw materials,
• development of the market of remanufactured and secondary parts,
• raising the standards of technical waste management.

In practice, this means moving from a “use and dispose” model to a model in which the value of materials and components is maximized.

Responsibility and the future

The RE-ELECTRO 4 LIFE project is an example of a responsible approach to resource management in the technology sector. It combines engineering knowledge, modern technologies and real actions for environmental protection. In the face of the growing number of e-waste, such initiatives are becoming not only an innovation, but a necessity.

On March 24-27, 2026. we had the pleasure to participate in MCE – Mostra Convegno Expocomfort – one of the largest and most important events in the HVAC+R industry in Europe.

It is a unique trade fair that gathers over 1800 exhibitors and over 160,000 visitors every year, providing a global platform for showcasing the latest technologies, solutions and systems for energy-efficient, modern buildings – both in the commercial, industrial and residential sectors.

Participation in the event was a great opportunity for us to promote the Refrigerants LIFE Cycle and RE-ELECTRO 4 LIFE projects on the international arena. MCE is not only a space for presenting innovative solutions, but above all a place to build business relationships, exchange experiences and develop cooperation with industry experts – engineers, designers and contractors.

Presence at the fair allows us to strengthen the recognition of our activities and develop strategic directions in the area of modern, effective and sustainable technologies.

Thank you for your meetings during the Warsaw HVAC Expo, which took place on February 24–26 in Nadarzyn.

For three days, we had the opportunity to talk to you about our projects implemented under the LIFE program: Refrigerants LIFE Cycle, REELECTRO 4 LIFE, LEGAL HFC 4 LIFE and COOLSPACES 4 LIFE.

We would like to thank everyone who visited our stand. It was a great opportunity to exchange experiences, talk about the challenges of the HVAC industry and present the initiatives we are developing in the area of new technologies, new services, training and communication activities related to responsible refrigerant management.

We are proud to announce that the descriptions of three of our projects have been included in the publication “Polish LIFE Projects”, prepared by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. The publication summarizes the implementation of the LIFE Programme in Poland in the years 2007–2023 and presents all Polish projects co-financed by the European Commission during this period. The LIFE programme, which has been operating continuously for over 33 years, is the only EU financial instrument managed directly by the EC, dedicated exclusively to environmental protection, climate and energy transition.

The study includes descriptions of our three initiatives:

• Refrigerants LIFE Cycle – a completed project, the effects of which are now the basis for further operational activities,
• RE-ELECTRO 4 LIFE – a project in progress, aimed at the development of innovative reuse technologies,
• LEGAL HFC 4 LIFE – a project supporting legal and safe trade in refrigerants.

Since 2008, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management has been actively supporting the implementation of the LIFE Programme in Poland, offering both financial and substantive support to applicants. The total budget of LIFE projects co-financed by the Fund is approaching PLN 2 billion, and Poland is now one of the European leaders in the implementation of LIFE strategic projects. We are glad that our activities have been included in such a comprehensive summary of the achievements of the LIFE Programme in Poland and we hope that the publication will become an inspiration for other entities planning to implement environmental projects with the use of EU funds.

We would like to thank all participants for participating in the webinars organized by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, during which we had the pleasure to present our projects and share experiences from their implementation.

During the meetings, we discussed three key initiatives implemented by our team. The first of them was the already completed Refrigerants LIFE Cycle project, within which we presented the achieved effects and developed solutions in the area of refrigerant management throughout their life cycle. Our current activities at the 4R plant, where we carry out daily operational and development work on a demonstration installation, were also presented. The installation is constantly optimised and successively scaled – with a planned capacity of 100 tonnes per year, we are now reaching 270 tonnes per year, which is an important step towards the industrial implementation of the developed technologies.

During the webinars, we also presented two currently implemented projects: RE-ELECTRO 4 LIFE and LEGAL HFC 4 LIFE. The participants had the opportunity to learn about the current state of progress of the work, the goals achieved so far, as well as further development prospects and planned activities under both initiatives. Presentations and discussion of projects were led by Martyna Jankiewicz, Head of the Project Department, who shared both the substantive context of the activities carried out and practical experience from their implementation.

On the occasion of the Train the trainers training carried out by the REAL Alternatives project consortium on October 6-10, 2025, we also had space to talk about new projects of the LIFE program, which are currently being implemented by PROZON. The meeting of trainers and stakeholders of REAL Alternatives created a natural opportunity to exchange experiences related to the implementation of LIFE projects focused on climate protection.

Discussions focused on both technological projects – including the development and implementation of innovative, low-carbon solutions – and training initiatives aimed at building and strengthening green competences among specialists in various industries. Joint conversations allowed to look at the implementation of LIFE projects from the perspective of different countries and organizations, compare approaches and identify good practices in project management, training and international cooperation.

This was a valuable complement to the consortium’s intensive training programme and meetings, confirming that LIFE projects – whether they focus on technology or competence development – play a key role in accelerating the climate transition and building sustainable, international partnerships for a sustainable future.

On November 24-25, we had the pleasure to participate in the GREENPACT 2025 Congress – one of the key events dedicated to economic transformation, sustainable development and practical implementations of the circular economy. During the congress, we talked about practically increasing the circularity of processes, supporting green innovations and really accelerating the transformation of the industrial sector towards circular economy.

The PROZON Foundation was represented by Martyna Jankiewicz – an expert in EU projects and environmental innovations. In the panel “Circular economy in practice. How to raise funds for sustainable solutions?” Martyna shared her experiences from the projects:
🔹RE-ELECTRO 4LIFE – implements the RE-USE model in the HVACR industry, recovering and reintroducing parts from dismantled refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, extending their life cycle and reducing waste.
🔹Circular Production Community – supports the transformation of the industry through circular economy audits, digital product passports, reduction of waste and CO₂ emissions, and increasing material circularity.

GREENPACT is a space for substantive dialogue, exchange of experiences and building partnerships that really support the future of Polish industry.

We were able to present our RE-ELECTRO 4 LIFE project on October 22 in Mszczonów, during the fifth edition of the “Enterprise and Environment” conference.

During the event, we met with representatives of the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump industries to talk about environmental responsibility in enterprises.

During the conference, the Re-Electro project manager presented our activities and talked about its innovative approach to e-waste management. Re-Electro is an example of real actions for the circular economy – thanks to which dismantled refrigeration and air conditioning equipment is given a second life.

This is another edition of the event, which showed how important it is to cooperate for climate protection and the implementation of good environmental practices in business. The day was full of inspiring presentations, practical tips and valuable conversations.

On October 14-16, 2025, we had the pleasure to participate in the POLECO fair in Poznań – one of the most important events dedicated to environmental protection and the circular economy.

Our stand was very popular, especially in the context of the RE-ELECTRO 4 LIFE project, which allows free collection of e-waste from all over Polish, but there were also many questions about our most important service, i.e. refrigerant regeneration.

It was three intense days full of interesting conversations, new contacts and exchange of experiences. POLECO is also a great opportunity to learn about other initiatives and technologies that, like our activities, contribute to environmental protection and waste reduction.

On 23 October, in Grabce Józefpolskie near Mszczonów, the ceremonial opening of the Re-Electro plant took place, which operates within the structures of the modern 4R (Recovery, Recycling, Reclamation, Reuse) complex. This is another important step towards a circular economy and the reuse of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.

The entire event took place in the hall dedicated to the Re-Electro process, under the mezzanine, which gave the ceremony a unique, industrial character and allowed you to fully feel the atmosphere of a place where technology meets the idea of sustainable development.

We thank all the participants of the event for celebrating this important moment together! Special thanks go to the Re-Electro team, which works with great commitment on a daily basis, as well as to the team of engineers and technologists who developed and implemented the solutions used, and to the project management team, coordinating each stage of its development.

It is thanks to you that it has become possible to launch this unique plant – a place where technology, knowledge and passion come together in the service of climate protection and responsible resource management.

On May 13, we had the pleasure to take part in a stationary conference as part of the LIFE Information Days 2025, organized by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW). The event brought together over 220 participants interested in the topics of sustainable development, environmental protection and innovative solutions within the EU LIFE Programme.

The program included presentations of 8 winning LIFE projects from the 2023 call and 26 information stands where the effects of environmental and climate projects were presented. It is a great opportunity to exchange experiences, learn about good practices and establish valuable industry contacts.
